Thank you for putting this seminar on your website. My husband just served me with divorce papers and I wasn't sure what to do. Your seminar answered a lot of questions for me and helped me figure out what to do next. I'll be contacting you soon to talk about my situation.

I had an initial consultation with a divorce laywer from another firm in town a few days ago. I learned more from your online seminar than I did from that attorney. Thanks for making this available. It's very educational.

I just recently went through a divorce, I'm still waiting a copy of my final corrected divorce decree. I wish that I would have found your website before I went through this nightmare, thankfully I had an awesome attorney. But your website clarified a few things that I was still not totally clear on. You are wonderful people for putting this information out there for us.

Do you or should you post a legal notice in the paper that once you are separated from your spouse that you will no longer be liable for their debts, or any expeditures after the date of separation????
Mine is bailing out on me the 1st of April and moving to Austin.
Thanks for any and all help!

Sorry, but that won't do any good. It's going to be community debt as long as you're still married.

My wife and I want an amicable divorce, and are considering the collaborative process. We live in Travis county right now, but our lease is up very soon. I want to move to Williamson county at the end of the lease, and she wants to file quickly and move out of state. If we start the petition while we are living in Travis county, where we have been for almost a year, will we be able to finalize a divorce while living in Williamson? She will reside with me there until finalization.

Yes. The jurisdiction is determined by where you have been living for the last 90 days at the time you file for divorce. So, if you file in Travis county and then move the next day, the case will remain in Travis county unless it is legally transferred to another county.
