We\u2019re going to cover each of them in a separate video. You can find all of the children videos in the list at the bottom of the page.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nOur courts primary consideration when it comes to making decisions about children in family law matters is what is in the best interest of the children. So, if there is a decision that a Court needs to make, that\u2019s the standard they\u2019re going to use.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThere are a few other positions they have that can guide their decisions. Most parents will probably agree with the positions.\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Children should have frequent and continuing contact with parents who have shown the ability to act in the best interest of the child.<\/li>\n<li>Children should live in a safe, stable, and nonviolent environment.<\/li>\n<li>Parents are encouraged to share in the rights, duties and responsibilities of raising their child or children after the divorce.<\/li>\n<li>Siblings should be kept together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nOne other factor that impacts the rulings of our courts is maintaining the status quo. The courts don&#8217;t typically like to make drastic changes to the arrangements concerning children. So, if the mother is the main caregiver of the children and has been for some time, the courts will be predisposed make the mother the primary conservator unless there is a good reason to do otherwise.
