I can&#8217;t really speak for other attorneys, but there are a few things you should be aware of in this situation. First and foremost, an attorney can only represent one spouse. Specifically, in a divorce case, only one spouse is the real &#8220;client&#8221; and the attorney can only advise his or her client. The attorney can&#8217;t give legal advice to the other spouse.<\/p>\n<p>With that said, when we&#8217;re the only attorney in a case, we don&#8217;t give advice to the other spouse and most of the time, we won&#8217;t even meet with the other spouse. However, that doesn&#8217;t mean that we&#8217;re going to take advantage of the situation and try to get a one-sided agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Hiring one attorney is becoming an increasingly popular option to save money.
